ICC presents new concept for 2019

Reed Exhibitions and the trade association Composites Germany will be working together even more closely from 2019. Composites Germany combines the talents of the four most important organisations in the German composites industry: AVK – Federation of Reinforced Plastics, Carbon Composites (CCeV), CFK-Valley and the VDMA working party for hybrid lightweight construction technologies.

As part of the new plan, Reed Exhibitions and Composites Germany will organise the International Composites Congress (ICC) jointly in future. The announcement was made by the two parties at Composites Europe, which took place in Stuttgart from 6-8 November. Until now, the ICC has been organised by Composites Germany as a kick-off event for Composites Europe. In future, there will be an integrated concept for the whole event that brings the fair and congress closer together.

“This will abolish the current separation of trade fair and lecture events,” said Dr Michael Effing, Chairman of the Board of Composites Germany. The lectures will continue to be held in plenary sessions and parallel forums. However, from 2019 they will take place during the trade fair and no longer in advance. The new concept seeks to focus more closely on topics and target groups. The advantages are clear.

“Participants will be able to select the lectures that interest them just as if they were choosing from a menu,” explained Elmar Witten, Managing Director of Composites Germany. This high-quality programme will be complemented by themed tours of the fair and practical demonstrations at Composites Europe.

“The cooperation is the result of a partnership that has grown organically over many years. We are now putting this on a new footing that creates significant synergies,” said Hans-Joachim Erbel, CEO of Reed Exhibitions Deutschland, the organiser of Composites Europe.

With the new, variable pricing structure and inclusion of topics that have not previously been offered, the two partners expect even greater interest and involvement with fresh and returning participants from the composites industry in 2019.
