Discovering potential of thermoplastic composites

Visitors will get an overview of materials, processing, design, applications and structural parts. An interactive seminar organised by European Alliance for Thermoplastic Composites (EATC) and AVK – Industrievereinigung Verstärkte Kunststoffe brings together a unique collection of topics and speakers and provides a practically-oriented, in-depth overview of applications using thermoplastic – in particular long and endless fibre reinforced – composites.

Visitors will get an overview of materials, processing, design, applications and structural parts. “Furthermore, you will benefit from meeting speakers from renowned companies and from free space for your individual questions,” organisers report.

The seminar will take place from 27-28 May 2019 in Wesel, Germany, on the premises of BYK-Chemie.

The target group are current or potential future manufacturers of composite components, who wish to find out more about the possibilities offered by thermoplastic composites or investigate the opportunities for introducing or switching to the corresponding technology.

The main themes will cover:

  • Materials for thermoplastic composites: overview and developments (matrix, fibres, additives and coupling agents - importance of fibre impregnation and interface, intermediate materials)
  • Process (compounding, different part shaping processes, process selection)
  • Product: design and simulation
  • Applications: practical examples (automotive interior, automotive exterior)
  • Structural parts / laminates in thermoplastic composites
  • Open discussion about the market: chances, developments, trends, and more
