South Korea in spotlight at JEC World

Country on Stage is a unique opportunity for three countries to highlight their composites industries’ specific features at JEC World. The event, which includes inspiring presentations and insightful discussions, highlights the most important aspects of the composites sector of each country featured this year (South Korea, the Netherlands and Russia). On 3 March South Korea will be in the spotlight from 10:05 am to 11:30am at the Agora (Hall 5).

“South Korea considers hydrogen as the country’s future in terms of mobility. In fact, almost one million hydrogen vehicles will be manufactured in the country by 2030 and almost three million by 2040. South Korea is thus taking a great leap forward with the transition towards cleaner vehicles,” JEC organisers say.

“However, this technology still faces several development issues - for instance, regarding materials and manufacturing processes for high pressure reservoirs, and loading facilities.”

The aim of this session is to learn how hydrogen storage technology can ensure the future of mobility and how South Korea is striving to be a pioneer in this field.

His Highness CHOI Jong-moon, Ambassador of South Korea to France will introduce the ceremony and other major Korean officials will be in attendance - Byung-Soon Jeon, Director, Jeonbuk Province; Yoon-Hyuk Bang, President, KCTECH; Dong-ki Lee, Executive Managing Director, Kita.

Several participants have also confirmed their presence: Axel Seifert, Business Line Director, Composite Pressure Vessels, Plastic Omnium; Sung-gi KIM, Head of R&D Center, Hanhwa Advanced Materials; Hang-jip CHO, Director of Kolon Glotech, Kolon; Jun-sang Lee, CEO, TNK CO., LTD ; Young-min Kim, Director, Mightym; Henry Hyunkyu Shin, Head of Carbon Business Center, KCTECH; Sung HA, Professor & Head of Center for Structures & Composites, Dept., Hanyang University.

The session will be moderated by Jason Palmer, Journalist at The Economist.
