OAS to continue supporting F1

Oxford Advanced Surfaces has been supplying Formula 1 teams with its Onto range of specialist adhesion promoters since 2014Oxford Advanced Surfaces has announced that the company is continuing to supply a number of major F1 constructors with Onto adhesion promoters into the 2019 season.

Onto adhesion promoters are used to improve the integrity of adhesive bonds with materials that are difficult to bond, such as PEEK and polyamide. It is also used in the surface preparation of body panels, where manual abrasion is not a practical option. “Unique patented Onto adhesion promoters help to overcome the challenges in the adhesive bonding of dissimilar materials,” the company explains.

“We specialise in getting the most from advanced materials. Too often incompatibility issues arise when components need to be bonded or coated, especially for many plastics, composites and carbon-based materials,” the company reports. “Onto technology is a unique and practical way of modifying the surface of almost any material, introducing activity even to the most inert surfaces and removing a barrier to innovation.”

Oxford Advanced Surfaces has been supplying Formula 1 teams with its Onto range of specialist adhesion promoters since 2014 and is now into its fifth year season in motorsport, having built a reputation for its high level of customer service and responsive deliveries.

“When it comes to surface modification, we are the experts. As a team we have over 70 years of experience and over 30 patents in this field since our commercialisation out of the University of Oxford. Our team of scientists is highly skilled in the synthesis and formulation of Onto materials, so we design and optimise products to meet the needs of real industrial challenges.”
