Among recent new products being introduced by Owens Corning is PulStrand PRO41 roving, which has been specifically designed to allow manufacturers to maximise production in pultrusion processes by reducing the number of glass doffs required.

The single-end roving provides processing and laminate advantages and multi-resin compatibility and the high content of the single roving requires 75% less floor space at the line. At the same time, product changeovers require fewer doffs, to reduce downtime, as well as less labour and the opportunity to make larger parts without compromising mechanical properties or processing.

PulStrand PRO41 enables consistent glass/resin bonding in polyester, vinyl ester, polyurethane, acrylic and epoxy resins and is produced with Owens Corning’s patented Advantex corrosion resistant E-CR glass. Its desirable shear and flexural properties provide maximum part strength and long part service life.

In production it enables smooth run-out combined with low fuzz properties, which results in smoother parts and less downtime for clean-up, enabling higher efficiencies and lower manufacturing costs.

Pultrusion can be carried out using conventional dip bath or resin injection technology for applications including ladder rails, grating systems, rebar and poles, etc.
