Multiaxial technology on show at JEC

Karl Mayer Technische Textilien GmbH, the Karl Mayer Group technical textiles and composites specialist, will be exhibiting at leading composites show JEC World this year. The show takes place from 6-8 March at the Paris Nord Villepinte Exhibition Center in Paris and the German machine manufacturer invites the trade fair visitors to visit its stand Q58, Hall 5.

On show will be Karl Mayer’s high-performance composites machines, the COP MAX 4 and the COP MAX 5. COP MAX 4 is a flexible all round model for producing multi-layered, multi-axial structures with angles ranging between maximum +20° and -20°. The COP MAX 5 is specially designed for the processing carbon fibres and can manufacture layered fabrics with a very low weight per unit area. The machine works either with an on-line or an off-line feeding system for the fibre material.

For the spreading of the fibre tapes for the off-line version, Karl Mayer Technische Textilien offers the fibre spreading unit UD 700. Information on the high-performance machines will be available via video presentation, printed and discussions with the Karl Mayer specialists.

A particular focus will be the topic of glass layers with defined carbon fibre reinforcements. The tailor-made reinforcement textiles are produced on multi-axial machines with a filler thread shogging device during the so-called Variolaying process.
