Cannon composite technologies at JEC World 2019

All Cannon composite technologies will be on show at the JEC World 2019 composites exhibition in Paris, from 12-14 March. Cannon dedicated solutions for composites mass production feature a full range of technologies and equipment, including carbon fibre preformers, resin dosing units and mixing heads, polymerisation presses, moulds, Industry 4.0-compliant software and electronic controls, and ancillary equipment.

The JEC World trade show unites the global composites industry. The most innovative solutions introduced by Cannon for the manufacture of carbon- and glass-reinforced composites for all their possible applications include complete manufacturing lines for the mass production of thermosetting or thermoplastic composite parts, all available from a single, international, qualified source.

Suitable for the production of wide parts for aviation, heavy transportation and automotive projects, they are regularly supplied by Cannon to manufacturers based in Europe, China and USA. These solutions include:

  • Chemical dispensing units and dedicated mixing heads for epoxy and polyurethane resins
  • Fully automatic glass and carbon-fibre preformers
  • A new generation of presses suitable for different technologies (HP RTM, gap injection, compression moulding, prepreg etc.) and different reinforcements (carbon and glass fibres, nonwoven PP, etc.)
  • Dedicated moulds, available for the most complex and large composite parts
  • A full set of handling and heating systems, safeties and electronic process controls

Specifically, the complete range of equipment designed for the wind-power industry includes the dedicated Cannon DX machines, Epoxy resin dispensers for the infusion of liquid formulations in the largest blades, manufactured for off-shore and conventional wind turbines. The latest model will be shown at JEC 2019 in Paris.

Another highlight is a degassing unit specifically designed to remove air from the resins and avoid the formation of bubbles in the cast parts. Finally, the dedicated Cannon G-System glue dispenser for the application of two-components adhesives on the edges of the longest blades, will be presented.
