JEC Award for robotic braiding

At the forthcoming JEC Asia International Composites in Seoul at the beginning of November, the company will receive the Process Innovation Award for its development of the world’s first propeller shaft produced by CFRP braiding in 2015.South Korea-based Textile For Life (T4L) has established an Industry 4.0 robotic braiding factory in Gyeongsangbuk-do.

At the forthcoming JEC Asia International Composites in Seoul at the beginning of November, the company will receive the Process Innovation Award for its development of the world’s first propeller shaft produced by CFRP braiding in 2015.

Propeller shafts are automotive driving parts that require very high quality and productivity.

The process for their production developed by T4L utilises a cyber physical system and draws on big data technology for virtual control of all processing parameters.

It allows very rapid production and product changes and other applications underway are focusing on automotive parts, sports equipment and household goods.

This development was supported by the Korea’s Ministry of Trade, Industry & Energy (Korean Government), DYETEC Gyeongsangbuk-do (Provincial Office) and Gyeongsan-City.
