Ventilation of released gas from stabilised precursor during its carbonisation is important for high quality carbon fibre manufacturing, and careful consideration of the released gas is important for the design of the carbonisation system. The impact of the carbonisation reaction on the process energy required, off-gas composition and atmosphere properties are important to the continued scale-up of higher production rate carbon fibre systems.

This white paper uses Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to analyse nitrogen cover gas and process off-gas to determine off-gas concentration differences as well as flow uniformity within the process.
