Funding success for Bcomp

Bcomp powerRibs technology will be used in the racing car’s body parts. © Bcomp Bcomp, the Fribourg, Switzerland-based start-up which specialises in natural fibre composites, has successfully closed its 3 million Swiss francs Series A financing round to fuel its expansion into the mobility markets, with a focus on the motorsports, automotive interiors and aerospace industries.

In parallel to several long-term development projects with partners in the automotive and aerospace industries, Bcomp has recently announced a long-term partnership with the Tesla-based Electric GT World Series.

Bcomp powerRibs technology provides a unique performance-per-weight ratio and will be used in the racing car’s body parts. Marrying the outstanding properties of flax fibers with a unique preform design, powerRibs technology allows weight savings of up to 40% in single skin composite shell applications.

Simultaneously, material cost and ecological footprint are significantly reduced. The same technology is used in automotive interior parts, allowing for significant light-weighting and integrating unique design options in a one-step production method.
