EXPERIENCE COMPOSITES celebrates promising start

The new leading international trade fair for fibre composite materials, lightweight construction and carbon, EXPERIENCE COMPOSITES, powered by JEC Group, has celebrated a remarkable and promising start, in Augsburg, Germany, this fall, organisers report.

The new international multi-location event hosted 175 exhibitors and 4,120 attendees from more than 30 countries. The event featured three congresses with 52 conferences, a start-up competition, Innovation awards, and a range of educational activities.

After three days of the premiere event, staged from 21 to 23 September in Augsburg, the event organisers – Messe Augsburg, JEC Group and the Carbon Composites e.V. (CCeV) association – proclaimed the trade fair a great success.

Combining German expertise

The concept of the event is to combine expertise from key German composites players, well known end users manufacturers, research centres, institutes and universities.

From this pooling of talents, organisers have produced a reach programme composed of multiple modules: an exhibition with a well thought structure, technical conferences, a thematic symposium, Study Prize programme, seminars, training sessions, live demos, institutes visits, plant tours, B2B meetings, and, for the first time in Germany, a start-up competition.

Start-up Awards

The objective of the competition, which handed a EUR 10,000 cash prize for the winning entry, is to promote the innovation and the entrepreneurship spirit in the composites field. “We, at JEC Group, have always found pioneering ways to build bridges between different types of public from the R&D scientists to the industrialists and the OEMs,” said Frédérique Mutel, JEC Group President & CEO.

“This initiative by JEC Group will create convergence between actual market needs, industrial processes and innovative ideas through this new competition that highlights the potential of promising Startups in the industry.”

The first place this year was shared between Cevotec, which offers a production technology for carbon composites and works with patch laminates and empowers manufacturers to build complex parts in high volumes, and Cobratex SAS, which aims to sell new bamboo based reinforcements directly to composite part manufacturers. The main products are bobbins and fabrics made with the innovative ribbon, which are said to be three times lighter than standard glass fibre products.
