The National Composites Centre (NCC), based in Bristol, has achieved top marks in its health and safety practices and achieved the prestigious Gold award from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA).

The RoSPA Health and Safety Awards are the longest running industry awards scheme in the UK, which receives entries from more than 2,000 organisations around the world. The awards recognise achievement in health and safety management systems, including leadership and workforce involvement.

“We are absolutely delighted to achieve the Gold award from RoSPA at our first attempt. Health and safety is our top priority here at the NCC; we aspire to provide the safest and healthiest environment for our workforce and to be role models in our industry for our customers,” said Andrew Hopcraft, COO at the NCC.

“We’re the place where innovation happens, with state-of-the-art equipment, capabilities and technologies that must be handled correctly and safely. It’s an honour to achieve the top award in recognition of our hard work and commitment to health and safety best practice by all of our employees.”

The RoSPA Gold award has been handed to the NCC for having very high level of performance, demonstrating well-developed occupational health and safety management systems and culture, outstanding control of risk and very low levels of error, harm and loss.

“The RoSPA Awards have become the key fixture in the health and safety calendar with new sponsors and new awards this year including the Leisure Safety Awards, the [email protected] [email protected] Award and the Inspiration Awards. Highly respected, with almost 2,000 entrants every year, RoSPA award winners benefit from the wide-ranging rewards of improved sector reputation,” said Julia Small, RoSPA’s head of qualifications, awards and events.
