Chomarat carbon reinforcements on display in Krakow

Chomarat, a leading specialist in textile reinforcements for composites, will exhibit its latest material solutions at Kompozyt Expo, the 8th international trade fair for composite materials, technologies and products, which takes place in Krakow this week.

The company’s carbon reinforcements will be used to build a kayak during a live demonstration with equipment manufacturer Magnum Venus Products (MVP). “This demonstration will prove that Chomarat reinforcements (fabrics and multiaxials) are effective in closed mould processes, like Flex Moulding, developed by MVP. The carbon fabric is easily laid up in a single step, with no need to reposition or cut it, which is a real advantage,” explained Vincent Cholvy, Sales manager at Chomarat.

G-Flow structural reinforcement

The Group’s distributor Polytor will also be exhibiting Chomarat products at its stand, where visitors can discover G-Flow, the structural flow-medium reinforcement developed for the infusion process, and FX, the latest range of adhesive reinforcements that are designed to facilitate reinforcement lay-up in the mould.

G-Flow’s 100% glass composition is said to help maintain the structural mechanical properties, while its original textile structure provides vacuum-draw properties. Tests have demonstrated that for equivalent performance, there is an overall cost reduction of around 13% on average, compared to a solution that requires an external flow medium.

“The structural and vacuum-flow properties of G-Flow lead to shorter layup time, so there are real technical and economic advantages. Thanks to its exceptional long-distance flow rate, G-Flow is especially adapted for large parts, making it a bona fide alternative as a flow-medium reinforcement in structural parts. That is why it has already won over major builders facing cost and performance requirements, and why it has such good prospects for growth in markets like marine, wind energy, building and construction, transportation, and industrial part manufacturing,” said Claude Chabal, Products - Infusion Manager at Chomarat.

Established in 1898, Chomarat is an international industrial textile group, involved in three businesses: Composites Reinforcements, Construction Reinforcements, Coatings & Films–Textiles. The privately held company operates in France, Tunisia, the US and China to service its global customers.

The producer of technical textiles for reinforcement, roofing and moulding applications, is focused on manufacturing products for a number of markets. These include the wind energy market, the oil and gas market, the construction industry and also high-end fabrics that have a cosmetic appeal out of carbon fibre that are used in the automotive market as well as the sports and leisure goods.
