Shape Machining, a leading UK-based composites manufacturer, has announced that Brian Campbell has joined the company as Operations Manager.

Mr Campbell joins Shape from respected Formula One (F1) team Williams Grand Prix Engineering, where he spent 29 years, starting as a pattern maker and working his way up through the company to Manufacturing Manager. Ideal experience for his new role at Shape, says Managing Director, Peter McCool.

“Attracting somebody of Brian’s experience to Shape is a real statement of intent for the company. We have always wanted to be the best manufacturing company in our sector. With Brian we now have an even stronger and more capable team,” he said. “Brian will bring knowledge and experience to our operations team and strengthen our customer focused approach to quality and delivery excellence.”

Shape primarily machines complex patterns, moulds, jigs and fixtures from epoxy tooling boards and intricate composite cores from Rohacell foam. Only a portion of Shape’s work is in F1, but the procedures and working practices gained from working in this industry are directly applicable to all the other industry sectors that Shape supports.

“I am very pleased to be joining Shape. They are ambitious and I’m keen to build upon what is already a very capable outfit,” commented Mr Campbell.

Shape Machining is ISO 9001 accredited and moving towards AS 9100 rev D. It specialises in machining metallic tools, epoxy tooling block patterns, Rohacell foams and the trimming of carbon fibre parts for the automotive, motorsport and aerospace industry. Shape Engineering offers a full range of design, analysis and project management services to support composite part and tool manufacturing projects.

Shape Composites supplies thermoset and thermoplastic composite preforms and parts ranging from bespoke autoclave cured carbon parts to larger volumes of hot-pressed formed carbon parts.
