Bitrez, UK’s leading manufacturer of specialist polymers and chemicals, is celebrating securing the Queen’s Award for Innovation for its Curaphen phenolic resins at the Advanced Engineering Show next month. Within the extensive Curpahen portfolio are low free formaldehyde phenolic resins offering inherent Fire, Smoke and Toxicity (FST) values whilst also meeting the reduced free formaldehyde threshold limits under REACH.

Bitrez formulates and manufacturers one of the broadest portfolios of thermoset and bio-based materials currently available in the marketplace, together with catalysts and curing agents. It supplies the composites, coatings and adhesive sectors for global companies in the aerospace, automotive, defence, energy and oil and gas industries. This is the third year the Wigan-based company will be exhibiting at the show, which takes place from 30-31 October in Birmingham.

“After an incredibly successful start to the year for Bitrez, from receiving the Queen’s Award for innovation to appointing new distribution networks across Europe, Middle East, USA, Canada and Mexico; we are looking forward to generating even more technical and commercial partnerships by attending the Advanced Engineering Show,” commented Dominic Hopwood, Bitrez’s Resin Sales Manager.

“The show is always much anticipated. Last year we accumulated some good leads from exhibiting and it’s always great to see existing clients too. This year, Bitrez will be launching a number of new composites-based resins at the show, including high Tg, REACH compliant and Out of Autoclave systems. However, we appreciate one resin doesn’t fit all, so look forward to discussing how customisation of our high-performance Vinyl Ester, Epoxy, Phenolic, Phenol Aralkyl and Benzoxazine resin systems will help enhance your processes and applications, so come and have a chat about how we can help.”

Bitrez also offers toll conversion, as well as technical support. Its team of highly qualified and experienced chemists can produce materials from laboratory scale through to transient pilot stage to enable scale up and allow for small scale qualification work before moving to commercial manufacture. Bitrez’s plant, which is COMAH [Seveso] and ISO 9001/14001/18001 compliant, can manufacture small scale development products up to 30,000 litre batch, along with exceptional cooling facilities to accommodate high-reactivity resins.
