Following the successful launch of Advanced Materials for Construction 2019 (amconf), organisers are calling for speakers for the next edition of the construction conference, which takes place from 28-29 April 2020.

Manchester University will again host the conference and exhibition, and the event will highlight innovative product development, new architectural and infrastructure projects and case studies, interactive panel sessions and fast-paced Pecha Kucha presentations. The aim is to provide thought-provoking presentations to inspire and motivate the construction industry and its supply chain to consider advanced materials as the material of choice wherever possible.

“As Rail Director for Northern Powerhouse Rail, this conference provided a real insight into smart innovations and technologies that both the supply chain and academia are developing which would provide significant opportunities in designing and building a transformational railway that brings major economic growth, capacity and connectivity to the North of England,” said Tim Wood, this year’s keynote speaker.

Technical Sales Manager at Amiblu, Leon Woods said, “The inaugural amconf 2019 was a great start to something new in our industry. The conference was well thought out, with a variety of presentations highlighting new opportunities and the diverse uses of composites in today’s world of construction. From Amiblu’s perspective, being able to network and create new discussions with clients, consultants and contractors with an interest in our business offering was very beneficial.”

Suggested topics to promote the use of advanced materials in the construction sector may include innovative materials and manufacturing techniques, durability, end of life and the circular economy, the digital era and smart technologies, testing, data and design, fire, smoke and toxicity, supply and demand, government policy, strategy and standards, and case studies.

Previous attendees included Network Rail, Wagners CFT, Amiblu Norway AS, Technical Fibre Products, Scott Bader, Tony Gee & Partners, Balfour Beatty, IBM Services, Digital Architects, APB Group, Fraunhofer IPA, Laing O’Rourke, Jacobs, Gurit, STRUCTeam, Freyssinet and Dura Composites.
