ALMACO, the Latin American Composite Materials Association, will promote the first Regional Meeting of 2019 on 9 May, in São José dos Campos, Brazil.

The event will be held at the Light Structures Nucleus (LEL), a laboratory belonging to the Institute of Technological Research (IPT) and the only one in South America dedicated to research applied to the manufacturing processes of lightweight structures, such as composites.

In the morning, participants will visit the lab facilities and, after lunch, attend six lectures. “Nothing better than presenting work on the latest in terms of raw materials and composite manufacturing processes in a space as well structured as LEL,” said Erika Bernardino Aprá, President of ALMACO.

With the sponsorship of Lord, Owens Corning, Purcom and Saertex, the first ALMACO Regional Meeting is a free event for professionals and students.

Founded in 1981, the Latin American Composite Materials Association aims to represent, promote and strengthen the sustainable development of the composite market. With headquarters in Brazil and regional headquarters in Chile, Argentina and Colombia, ALMACO has around 400 associates and maintains, in conjunction with the Technological Research Institute (IPT), the Center for Technology in Composites (CETECOM), the largest of its kind in Latin America.
