Annual Conference

The event will look at the current strategy and future development of the composites industry and will include details on the new apprenticeship scheme which will play a critical part in furthering the UK workforce.

“There is a current focus on growing sectors such as automotive, and emerging sectors such as construction and energy, where the need for affordable composite solutions is paramount. Opportunities for glass fibre and carbon fibre based composites will be shared at the Annual Conference, helping companies plan for potential future demand – based on cost alone, glass fibre will have a significant role in these sectors,” commented Dr Sue Halliwell, Operations Manager at Composites UK.

Automotive Sector Showcase

On the following day, the Association is working jointly with the Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG) on an Automotive Sector Showcase event where speakers will include Ford Motor Company and Jaguar Land Rover, with more to be announced.

“The sector showcases have proven to be immensely popular over the past couple of years, with the Aerospace event we organised in December 2016 being the biggest with over 90 delegates. The Automotive event is well on track to top this, with just a third of the delegate places remaining,” said Claire Whysall, Communications Manager at Composites UK.
