Mitsui Chemicals will introduce the ‘hour’s Pod’ at this week’s JEC World in Paris.

Developed with fellow Japanese company ARRK Corporation, the new concept vehicle suggests new ways to spend time in the future while enjoying the freedom that autonomous driving will deliver.

It is outfitted with a range of new technologies from Mitsui including:

  • Tafnex unidirectional tapes and sandwich panels made from carbon fibre and polypropylene (PP) as the frames and flooring. The material is light weight, impact and water resistant and is easily processed and recycled.
  • Nostra, a proprietary UV-hardened coating with enhanced dirt resistance, anti-fogging properties, easy washability, abrasion resistance, anti-static and fast-drying properties.
  • Fortimo, a polyurethane elastomer created from novel isocyanate as the cushioning material of the vehicle’s seat and table. Fortimo is characterised by high elasticity, heat resistance and light stability.
