The use of additive manufacturing – or 3D printing – is gaining momentum within the composites industry, whether aiding design, prototypes, tooling, mandrels, mass-customisation, direct and in-direct production, jigging and fixtures.

Sectors including aerospace, defence and automotive are implementing this suite of technologies to enable agile development, low volume production and on-demand delivery.

The Additive Manufacturing for Composites event by Composites UK will look at developments in additive manufacturing, and how these translate into production opportunities for composites manufacturers wishing to embrace digital workflows. The event will take place on 17 September in Huntingdon and is now open for registration.

“Specifically structured for those who need to deploy proven solutions for real-world problems, this event will combine presentations and demonstrations giving new insights into the future of high value composites using 3D printing,” organisers explain.

The programme will focus on several major themes, including tooling, design, continuous reinforcement and fixtures. The speaker line-up features representatives of leading specialists in the field of composites and additive manufacturing, such as iMet, Composites UK, The MTC - National Centre for Additive Manufacturing, Fluxaxis, FDM Digital Solutions, e-Xstream Engineering, AMRC, GTW Development, and more.
