Accelerating winding processes with Rothawin technology

Roth Composite Machinery from Steffenberg, Germany, will be exhibiting at Composites Europe in Stuttgart. An expert in special-purpose mechanical engineering presents its machine manufacturer competences in filament winding and prepreg at the European trade show and forum for composite materials, technology and applications that takes place in November.

The focus of the manufacturer’s presentation at the trade fair is the Rothawin technology, robot winding and the machine type 1-Eco.

The Rothawin technology is designed to accelerate winding processes by five to ten times, making production processes much more effective. “The Rothawin technology is the ideal solution for series and mass production of pressure vessels in the automotive industry,” the company explains. Furthermore, Roth presents at the trade fair its new machine concepts for robot filament winding processes. They are suitable for R&D and for small series production.

Additional highlight of the trade fair presentation is the new machine Type 1-Eco. Roth Composite Machinery developed it as standardised version of the gantry-type filament winding machine being its most successful tailor-made machine on the market. For Roth, this is an entry into the serial production of filament winding machines.

The Type 1-Eco machine is equipped with all essential basic functions and offers particularly cost-conscious newcomers in the filament winding technology the attributes robustness, durability and precision. The new machine is convincing with its modular concept of up to four spindles. A maximum of four winding axes and two length variants (up to 4,000 and up to 10,000 millimetres) are configurable. Each spindle is driven separately and thus, a simple and cost-effective retrofitting is enabled.
