Seoul selected for JEC Asia 2017

JEC Asia International Composites Event 2017 will take place at the COEX Center in Seoul, Republic of Korea, from 1-3 November 2017. © JEC GroupFrédérique Mutel, President and CEO of JEC Group, has announced that for the first time, Seoul will host an international JEC Asia International Composites Event. The event, which will take place from 1-3 November 2017, was announced at today’s JEC Asia Opening Ceremony, being held at the SUNTEC Center Singapore.

“Since 2008 we have been organising our annual composites meeting in Singapore, a big hub for business in Asia Pacific. One of JEC Group main strength is to adapt rapidly to the industry needs as we constantly listen and watch for the developments, innovation and requests of the market,” said Ms Mutel.

“When the Korean composites industry asked us to consider organizing JEC Asia in the Republic of Korea few years ago, we have been working hand in hand with them to build a tailor-made event that is ready to be launch in South Korea next year, from 1-3 November 2017, symbolically for JEC Asia 10th session.”

Golden triangle

“As an observer and representative of the Industry, we could not help but to notice that the development of composites materials could only be possible thanks to the close relationship of the golden triangle made of government, industry and research together with material sciences and engineering,” continued Ms Mutel.

“These models of virtuous circles have proven to be positive and fruitful in many countries and South Korea is a very good example. After having signed a few years ago a MoU with the KCTECH, we are happy to sign another one today with the Jeonbuk TechnoPark in presence of the H.E. Mr. Lee SANG-DEOK, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea in Singapore, Mr Roh INHO, CEO of KOTRA in Singapore, Pr. Sung HA, Professor at Hanyang University and Mr DU-OCK BECK, President of Jeonbuk TechnoPark.”

Trends and applications

Composites are underrepresented in their potential applications, organisers say. JEC Asia focuses on the trends that will increase their penetration – lightweighting of parts, enhanced properties of fibre and resins systems, reduction in number of parts, faster and predictable infusion, environmentally friendly solutions, and cost reduction.

In 2016, the industries represented include automotive and transportation, construction and building, oil and gas, wind energy and aerospace. The aerospace composites circle is taking place once again on the second day of JEC Asia, gathering key players from this industry for a networking and knowledge sharing session.

International platform

With a network of 250,000 professionals, JEC Group is the largest composite organisation in the world. It represents, promotes, and helps develop composite markets by providing global and local networking and information services. For the past 20 years, JEC has achieved continuous growth and acquired an international reputation. It has opened offices in North America and Asia.

“We are excited to bring JEC Asia to another great capital city in Asia. The city of Seoul is already very committed to help us hosting this international event with attendees from more than 40 countries next November. Moreover, Seoul has the perfect infrastructure to welcome exhibitors and attendees with the high-quality standards that JEC Group offers at each of our event,” commented Christian Strassburger, JEC Asia Show Director
