26th September 2016, Chicago, IL
JEC Group is launching the Future of Composites in Construction, a brand new event dedicated to one of the most promising composites market segments, which will take place from 20-22 June 2017 in Chicago, IL, colocated with Techtextil North America.
Building and civil engineering is the third largest growing market for the US composites industry, and building and construction are expected to contribute up to 15% of the growth in value of the US composites industry by 2018.
According to JEC Group, growth will be driven by repair of aging infrastructure (bridges, roads, sewage pipes, etc.), recovery of the residential housing market and the continued urbanization in emerging countries, in particular China and emerging Asia.
Focusing on end-users, the Future of Composites in Construction is a three-day event dedicated to business and networking surrounded by innovations introducing new and featured products for the construction industry. The event will feature a networking platform, allowing visitors to plan B2B meetings, and a trade show, entirely dedicated to the construction and focusing on its many segments.
In addition, the Innovation Hub, with the JEC Innovation Awards Program, which has involved and benefited nearly 2,000 companies over the years, will feature live demos and innovation showcase areas featuring innovative industry capabilities on the show floor. Among other event highlights are the Composites Tour. JEC Group organizes a Plant Tour of selected industry leaders in the Chicago area.
Finally, the Job Center will enable companies to post their job openings. Also, the Education & Skills Village will be dedicated to supporting future generations by developing products and services for the benefit of students and universities. A free poster session will also give students, researchers and companies the possibility to display a technical poster on any Composites in Construction related subject.
The Construction Symposium will feature renowned speakers presenting during the two-day conference sessions. Both days will be divided into two parts, dedicated to Building and Infrastructure respectively.
The first day will begin with the market overview of the building sector, discuss meeting structural, thermal and aesthetic requirements, existing issues and possible solutions, as well as current demand. The second part of the day will give an infrastructure market overview, and speakers will discuss repair and improvement of existing architectures, FRP use in complex, hybrid structures, as well as flexibility for unique designs.
The second day will be dedicated to ensuring safety while maintaining performance and will focus on fire protection, retardant systems, corrosion, fatigue resistance and finding the right resin. The second conference day will finish with the session dedicated to improving the durability of composite materials and will discuss light-weighting, sustainability, green building, thermal insulation properties, as well as life-cycle analysis (LCI) tools.
