CFM launches eLearning YouTube channel

CFM had the need for some high-level introduction and training material around composites processing and testing. The Centre for Future Materials (CFM) of the University of Southern Queensland (USQ) has revealed an eLearning YouTube Channel – Introduction to Fibre Composites. There are 25 videos overarching composite material manufacturing, composites testing, and polymer testing.

The playlist was professionally produced at USQ. The videos provide a new learner with some basic knowledge so that the they can make an informed decision as to whether to further the training on a specific piece of equipment.

CFM had the need for some high-level introduction and training material around composites processing and testing, when the new researchers first joined the Centre. To solve the problem of doing periodic inductions, CFM says it created this series of high level videos, which were initially made available internally. CFM has now decided to release through YouTube for the composites community to utilise as they see fit.

“We are delighted to share the eLearning resource on YouTube. It will enhance the universal access to teaching and learning on composite material,” said CFM Director Professor Peter Schubel.

CFM shared the news with an international network in the composites community, since the eLearning YouTube channel went live. The responses were overwhelmingly positive, according to the organisation. A number of institutions, including universities, technology centres and government agency, have incorporated the videos as learning resources on composite materials, CFM reports. The target audience are undergraduate students, school teachers/students, researchers, and professionals in composites industry.
